The FIA GT1 World Championship is organised and promoted by the Stephane Ratel Organisation and is one of five FIA World Championships alongside Formula One (F1), World Rally Championship (WRC) and the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).


In 2010 the Championship was staged over 10 events in Abu Dhabi, UK, Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Brazil and Argentina with 12 teams and 24 cars taking part.  Michael Bartels and Andrea Bertolini were crowned the first ever GT1 World Champions in December.


MacLean Communications was contracted by SRO to provide press office services to the championship, with Jeff Carter appointed as the FIA Media Delegate with a place on the FIA Press Council..
